Edward Jones

St. Louis [North Central]

Why you want to work there

There's a lot to like at this financial services firm in St. Louis, one of the largest operating partnerships in America. Despite a market downturn, no employees were laid off in the past year, and any employee in good standing with a minimum of three years of service can be considered for limited partnership at Edward Jones, the last remaining partnership among the major financial firms. The most recent partnership offering closed in January 2011, meaning thousands of new partners now share in the firm's earnings. Edward Jones is now owned by 14,937 limited partners and 347 general partners. Nearly half of all employees -- ranging from administrative assistants to top firm leaders -- own a piece of the firm. More than 900 IT employees got partnership offers in 2010. Of those, 612 were existing partners offered a larger stake, and 307 were new limited partners. Each limited partner earned a 17% return on their 2010 investment, getting a check in early 2011. That's in addition to the 7.5% interest paid monthly on their partnership capital. Go team IT offers many leadership roles, including technical ones, and the IT audit rotation, Leadership Development Experience, and Leadership Development Associate programs help produce new leaders.
