The J.W. Marriott Jr. Diversity Excellence Award recognizes a business unit or individual for outstanding work in promoting diversity and inclusion at Marriott. Financial incentives Beyond base pay, Marriott offers additional financial rewards, including the Recognition Stock Award, which is a tool for managers to recognize exceptional performance or contributions. Nominees for this award are eligible to receive Marriott stock ranging in value from $1,000 to $5,000. The Values in Practice (VIP) award recognizes employees who best demonstrate the IT group's operating values through innovation, creativity and quality of work to meet business needs or realize personal and professional growth. Employees are nominated by co-workers or business partners from any Marriott business unit. In 2010, 134 honorees were presented with letters from the CIO and etched-glass paperweights. The help desk celebrates employees' contributions with the "Associate of the Month" program. And Marriott employees who participate in the "Spirit to Serve Our Community Day" and other community service events receive certificates of recognition.
